FAQs

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
We are currently in-network with BCBS with the exception of their Medicare plans. Acupuncture coverage varies by plan and we are happy to check the details of your benefits for you. Super bills can be provided for out-of-network patient submission. Acupuncture also is an approved expense for flexible spending (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA).

WHAT CAN WE TREAT?
Acupuncture is recognized by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to be effective in the treatment of a wide variety of medical problems. We are a general family practice and work frequently with patients struggling with headaches, physical pain, chronic and autoimmune conditions, gastrointestinal imbalances, fertility and hormonal health, stress, anxiety, insomnia, and fatigue. To learn more about whether acupuncture can help you, contact us to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.

HOW LONG ARE APPOINTMENTS?
The first appointment lasts about 90 minutes. It includes a comprehensive intake interview and treatment. We’ll discuss your issue, symptoms, goals, history and lifestyle. From there, we’ll develop a holistic treatment strategy to support your healing and wellbeing. Follow-up appointments last about 60 minutes.

WHAT IS MY FIRST APPOINTMENT LIKE?
The first appointment lasts about 90 minutes. It includes a comprehensive intake interview and treatment. We’ll talk about your goals, symptoms, history and lifestyle. From there, we’ll develop a holistic treatment strategy to support your healing and wellbeing.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Once you meet for your initial appointment, we will create a personalized treatment plan. Someone with an acute physical pain may get relief in 3-4 treatments while someone with a more chronic issue may require longer. Like physical or talk therapy, healing takes time and commitment and varies from person to person.

WHAT IS YOUR COVID POLICY?
We take COVID very seriously and patient wellbeing is our top priority. Masks are required in the office for both patients and staff. Patients who are sick, have a fever or are experiencing new symptoms of cough, sore throat or headache without known cause cannot be seen in the office.

WHAT IF I TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 OR AM AROUND SOMEONE WHO DOES?
Following CDC guidelines, if you test positive for COVID-19, you must wait at least five days before coming to the office AND be fever free for more than 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medication. If you are exposed to someone who tests positive, you may still come into the office if you are vaccinated and boosted, have no symptoms and a negative rapid test result. If you have any questions about whether or not to come in the office, please call us at 240.461.1745 or email us to set up a virtual visit.
